Bartra to develop a third state of the art healthcare in North Dublin

Bartra aims to deliver 1,000 healthcare beds by 2019 and 2,000 by 2020.

Bartra Capital Property Group (Bartra), the investment management company, founded by successful property developer and entrepreneur, Richard Barrett, has announced the acquisition of a 1-hectare site off Kilmore Road, Artane, North Dublin on which it will now develop and operate a 221-bed healthcare facility. The site includes full planning permission.

This is the third healthcare site to be announced by Bartra in 2017. In June, Bartra procured a 4.5-hectare site off Featherbed Lane, Loughshinny, County Dublin to develop and operate a 123-bed healthcare. This was followed by the acquisition of a 0.43-hectare site off the Old Ballymun Road in Northwood, Santry, Dublin 9 on which Bartra will develop and operate a 118-bed healthcare.

Officiating at a sod turning event to mark the start of development of the Loughshinny Healthcare site, Minister Jim Daly, Minister of State at the Department of Health with special responsibility for Mental Health and Older People, stated, “Owners, providers, and staff of private and voluntary healthcare across Ireland play an integral part in the way that we care for our older people and given the projected demographic trends, private healthcare will continue to be a significant provider of care in the future”.

Bartra finalised the acquisition of the Kilmore Road site on 25th October 2017 and will design, build and operate a modern, purpose-built healthcare to the highest standards available in the country. This healthcare will comprise of 221 single ensuite rooms, all designed to exceed relevant Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards, and guidelines. The Kilmore Road Healthcare will accommodate patients across the spectrum of residential healthcare needs, including Alzheimer’s/dementia care as well as respite, rehabilitation, convalescence and day care needs.

Bartra’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Flannery, stated, “These 3 acquisitions demonstrate Bartra is on course to realising its objective of delivering 1,000 healthcare beds by 2019, with planning for delivery of 462 healthcare beds already secured. Bartra is currently pursuing a number of other opportunities including the acquisition of further sites for development and the purchase of existing healthcare. It is Bartra’s ambition to deliver 2,000 beds by 2020”.
